Crosses
Barbara’s work with the cross form, stems from a unique intersection that began with a dying friend and later collided (mentally) with an estranged family member who also started making art crosses at the same time that Barbara began. The cross form is what interested Barbara. The form itself does not personally represent a theology to me as much as an art form. Some of my crosses are not very religious and that is intentional. Of particular interest, however, are memorial crosses which are made with representational objects from a person’s life. Two of these crosses are depicted. Both of the memorial crosses are in private collection.
