Unfiltered
This piece was part of an invitational. A foam head was salvaged during a closet clean-out. It sat on a shelf until my vision took hold. As we age, our mouth-brain connections lose their filters and we are more likely to simply say what is there at there at the tip of our tongues or our consciousness. The spigot represents turning on the words, the beads are those words flowing. There is an off/on switch and on the other side of the head is a computer chip (our cerebrum). How wonderful to age into not really giving a damn about what others think.

Buscando Respuestas
A Cross made for my friend and web-teacher, Katy. Buscando Respuestas is Spanish and translates to looking (or searching) for answers. This mixed-media cross incorporates old found wood and copper accents.

Kennicott Dreams
A newer Kennicott Cross, mixed media with Kennicott found objects. This cross again represents my fascination with my own internal moveable feast (Hemingway) fascination with the historic Kennicott copper mine nestled in the Wrangell St Elias Mountains in Alaska. In private collection.

Heart
This old Dutch butter mold intrigued me. Found in a second-hand store, the flower mold reminded me of the chambers of the heart. I painted the interior mold a deep red color; teak-oiled its two presses, and then added red plastic coated electrical wiring to resemble arteries of the human heart.

Bisbee
Bisbee, Arizona is a fascinating small town on the Arizona-Mexico border. Bisbee is very photogenic. For this project, I captured a series of photograps and then incorporated what the lens saw with my paintbrush. This idea was mildly successful and deserves further exploration.

Darla's Hand
At the bottom on the Colorado Rivder delta, just prior to entering Lake Powell, this artist found a piece of wood that strongly resembled a human hand. With clandestine intention, the wood came home in my ruck-sack and became art for my new-friend Darla. We met on this 21-day river-rafting trip and both agreed it looked hand-like. I am honored she acepted the art as a gift. Several coats of teak oil polished the hand which is affixed to an antique-something (???) base with a piece of red chert from our trip.

Queen
My mixed media 10x10 wall panel is essentially a protest. This art formed itself. I started out with an intention, but my internal anger with the repeal of Roe v. Wade foreshadowed the final art piece. Look closely; there is much going on. The female reproductive system remains the purview of the queen; a woman. Women control reproductive freedom, not the US Supreme Court.
